About Alchemist

Alchemist is an early-stage venture firm — a premier investor and community for deeply technical founders building in enterprise tech, deep tech, and foundational infrastructure. Alchemist began as the enterprise accelerator for technical founders; today we invest alongside qualified venture partners and back every portfolio company with a commercialization system built over more than a decade of founder work: expert coaching, playbooks, a selective community of founders and operators, and direct access to customers, investors, and Silicon Valley.

Since 2012, we've backed 750+ companies — a portfolio that includes 5 unicorns, 80+ exits, and more than $5B in follow-on funding. We believe enterprise commercialization can be coached — and we measure success in enterprise traction: customer evidence, pipeline, and revenue.

About the role

Alchemist is evolving — institutionalizing more than a decade of enterprise-founder work into an early-stage venture firm that invests alongside qualified partners and helps technical founders turn expertise into enterprise traction. This role owns communicating this evolution to the market.

We're hiring a fractional Head of Marketing & Brand to own Alchemist's narrative through its public evolution: a clear point of view, content built on beliefs founders can test — enterprise commercialization can be coached; fundraising is downstream of business progress — portfolio PR built on real commercial milestones, and a coordinated sequence of anchor announcements. This is a brand role, not a conversion role: is in clear, complete, respectful communication to stakeholder audiences. The role reports to the CEO and works closely with Alchemist extended leadership and Partners.

Who we're looking for

The ideal candidate is a senior marketing leader — likely a fractional CMO — with deep enterprise/B2B and venture experience. You should be:

  • A positioning native, fluent in category design and point-of-view marketing. You know the difference between a claim and a belief, and you've (re)positioned a brand before.
  • Allergic to puffery; you'd rather publish five declarative sentences a skeptic can inspect than a page of inspirational copy.
  • A writer-editor; you produce and polish narrative yourself — messaging docs, web copy, founder stories — and raise the bar for everyone else's.
  • Venture-literate; you understand founders, LPs, venture partners, and how each audience hears the same story differently.
  • An orchestrator, comfortable running agencies, freelancers, designers, and internal voices against a tight narrative and a launch calendar.
  • Measured by credibility, excited to be judged on whether the right people describe Alchemist correctly, not on clicks or gamified funnel metrics.

Key responsibilities

  • Narrative & messaging. Turn Alchemist's strategy & positioning into a source-of-truth message architecture by audience (founders, venture partners, ecosystem partners, LPs, community) — and keep it consistent across every surface.
  • The launch. Plan and execute public positioning: sequencing, anchor announcements, and a coordinated market moment.
  • Website & content. Own Alchemist's web presence, keeping it tight to our positioning and point of view, and retiring legacy language across every page.
  • Portfolio PR. Turn founder commercial milestones into proof — case studies, press, and stories organized around enterprise traction.
  • Fund & partner marketing. Support LP- and partner-facing materials with the funds team, keeping one thesis across every audience.
  • Team & community brand. Own and elevate the public profiles of Alchemist's partners and team, including bios, talks, and our podcast.

Required experience & skills

  • 10+ years in venture, startup, or B2B marketing, including brand or category leadership
  • Experience positioning a company or launching a category narrative
  • Exceptional writing and editorial taste
  • Experience marketing to founders, LPs, and the venture ecosystem
  • Comfort operating fractionally: high leverage, clear priorities, no bureaucracy

Bonus experience & skills

  • Fractional CMO practice with referenceable engagements
  • Developer-facing or deeply technical product marketing experience
  • PR / communications agency management
  • Podcast or executive-content production

Performance metrics

  • Message adoption: founders, LPs, and partners describe Alchemist accurately and consistently
  • On-time execution of the launch calendar and anchor moments
  • Discoverability and credibility of key Alchemist marketing assets and messages

Why this role

Repositioning a firm with real substance behind it is the best kind of marketing problem: the proof exists — 750+ companies, 5 unicorns, 80+ exits, $5B+ in follow-on funding, and a network that shows up — and the story just hasn't been told. You'll get to tell it first. If you believe great brands are built on point of view and evidence, we want to meet you.
